Location: France is located in Western Europe between Belgium and Spain, bordering the Bay of Biscay and the English Channel. It is southeast of the United Kingdom, bordering the Mediterranean Sea between Italy and Spain.
Climate: Inland France generally has cool winters and mild summers but the area along the Mediterranean ocean has mild winters and hot summers. From time to time France is visited by strong, cold, dry north-to-north westerly winds known as mistrals.
Religion: Nearly 90% of the population is Roman Catholic, the next largest religious group is Muslim (5-10% of the population), and there is also a small Protestant, Jewish, and unaffiliated population.
Entry and Exit: France has 477 airports.
Non-resident stay: The following conditions qualify persons for tax-resident status: a stay of over 183 days, home ownership in France, France is one’s principle place of abode, France is the place where one conducts one’s principle professional activities, or France is the center of ones economic interests. Visas are not required for tourist or business stays of up to 90 days.
