The Isle of Man
Privacy
At this time the government of the Isle of Man has signed a Tax Information Exchange Agreement but not a Mutual Assistance Treaty with the United States. Moreover, the Isle of Man is only a transition participant in the European Union Savings Directive and thus has not agreed to share personal information with other nations. As such, the Isle of Man does not offer a high level of privacy protection to American citizens. Although the Isle of Man has thus far protected the privacy of some its foreign investors, its commitment to protecting the privacy of offshore investors as a whole is questionable based upon its willingness to sign a Tax Information Exchange Agreement with the United States.
