Privacy
At this time the British Virgin Islands has signed a Tax Information Exchange Agreement as well as a Mutual Assistance Treaty with the United States. Although the British Virgin Islands is a participant in the European Union Savings Directive, it has not agreed to share personal information with other nations. As such, the British Virgin Islands does not offer a particularly high level of privacy for American citizens nor does it necessarily protect the assets of American citizens. In short, although the British Virgin Islands have made provisions to protect the privacy of its EU investors, its commitment to privacy and assets is questionable as demonstrated by its various agreements with the United States.
